How does it work?
Denther offers you evidence based, unbiased, rigorously reviewed dental diagnosis. As a patient, you are not able to interpret dental evidence presented to you by a dentist. Denther provides you with the access to independent dentists, incentivised to maintain highest standards.
How is a diagnosis formed?
Denther enables a patient to get a reliable diagnosis without the need to rely on a single trusted diagnosis source, that is to say, to rely only on one dentist. Using Denther, you can easily get as many opinions as you want, without a need to go to them physically. We ask 5 dentists to take a look at your images and find existing conditions. Then we compare their submissions and if at least 4 of them (80%) agree on the same thing, we consider that a reliable diagnosis.
How do you get dentists to agree on one opinion?
Our dentists are awarded (win points and $) if their opinion is equal to what the majority (more than 80%) of other dentists say. If it’s not, they are punished (they lose points). If there is no majority, everybody loses points. This pushes dentists to think hard about the most likely diagnosis out of millions of possibilities (there are 150 conditions and 38 areas).
How do you ensure that dentists don’t cheat?
To achieve this, Denther uses a technique called distributed consensus. When you submit your images Denther will “ask” a randomly selected set of dentists to give their diagnostic opinion. They are all anonymous, which means they are not able to get into a communication with any of the other dentists. Also, we make sure that two dentists work on few of same cases as possible.
How can I get the top dentists to give me their opinion?
You can add bounty to your case. Only the top 10% dentists ranked by success score are able to collect these. If they are in majority, they split the prize proportionately to the number of their success score.
What is a bounty?
Just like in tales of wild west, bounties are rewards for people who complete a certain task. People (or even companies) often offer bounties (or rewards) in exchange for certain goods or services. Think of it as a way of bartering in the digital world. You can put any amount you want, but you must be aware that only the higher bounty will attract dentists with higher score.
How much do you charge?
We take a fee of 5% but only if you want to pay. Otherwise, it’s free.
How can I be sure my diagnosis is reliable?
Studies have shown that image analysis can be superior or at least comparable to visual inspection techniques. In many cases your dentist will make preliminary conclusions based on simply seeing your teeth. For many conditions they too will not be able to form a diagnosis without seeing an X-ray of your teeth too. Denther platform provides you with an opportunity to obtain your diagnosis quickly and reliably without having to step into the the second dentist office.
What is a score of dental providers?
Every provider has a score. Score is the ultimate source of information about the experience and successfulness of a provider in Denther market. Providers with higher score have more experience and are more successful in their work. Higher scores enable providers to compete for better paying jobs. They are completely objective and we put a lot of effort into ensuring noone can fake their score.
How do you score dental care providers?
There are different types of scores based on different types of services. Providers can specialize for one type of service or for all of them. These are the differente services that we keep score of:
Experience score shows how many services has a provider provided.
Successfulness score** shows how many services has a provider successfully provided.
Successfulness rate shows what is the percentage of successful services in the total number of services provided by a provider.
How are scores calculated?
Scores are calculated automatically from points acquired by each provider when they provide a service.
For example, providers who give diagnosis:
– get 1 point if they are in the majority
– lose 2 points if they are not in the majority
– lose 1 point if there is no majority
